Rebecca Newberry

APRN, MS, CDE

Rebecca is an Arizona native who received her nursing degrees from the University of Arizona and her NP certificate from UNMC.  She has been a Certified Diabetes Educator for over 30 years and specializes in the medical and educational management of adults with diabetes.  She is experienced in the advanced technology used, including insulin pumps and continuous glucose sensors.

Rebecca has had many years of advanced diabetes management experience, most of them with the Methodist Diabetes Center, which she started with Dr Tim Wahl.  The center operated for over 30 years, closing in 2020.  She has been on the Speaker’s and Advisory Boards of many diabetes related companies, and is an active speaker for Lilly Diabetes and NovoNordisk Diabetes.

Rebecca has a passion for the care of the individual with diabetes, and feels that her job is to make living with a demanding chronic disease like diabetes easier for each person she treats.  She gets to know her patients as individuals, understanding their lifestyle, needs, and concerns.  This helps to find the best medications and technology for each person.  She believes there is no “cookie-cutter” approach to diabetes management, and finds the best, most individualized approach possible.

She has 2 adult daughters, who live in Chicago and New York City.  When not working, she enjoys reading, spending time with friends, traveling and watching and attending college sports, including Nebraska football games, and Creighton baseball games.
