Today, I wanted to share with you all the story of a close friend to the Remedy Health family. Kelli Simpson, battled cancer at an early age of 5 - only three days before she was supposed to start kindergarten! This year marks 20 years of being cancer free!

Kellie considers herself one of the lucky ones. Her mother identified that there was a problem quickly, and the doctors treated it fast. She only had to live in the hospital for one month, but the treatment continued for the next 2 and a half years. Thankfully, Kelli never relapsed, but had many scary moments and hospital and clinic visits throughout those years. She had to watch as many of her close friends did relapse. She described,
“It was terrifying going to a 1 year cancer free party, and hearing the news of friends relapsing just a week before!

As you can imagine, this completely turned Kellie’s world upside down! She and her family were blessed to have had wonderful doctors, nurses and caregivers through Children's Hospital. They were also extremely blessed to have the knowledge, support and research of the Leukemia Society.

With this story of successful treatment, she has opted to become a candidate for Woman of the Year with the Leukemia Society during this year’s annual fundraiser.
Her goal is to help fund the continuing valuable work of this organization by raising money, while attempting to win the fundraising contest. All the funds will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Kellie’s campaign. Every dollar raised counts as one vote!
